What’s an ATC?
An ATC – Artist Trading Card – is a small piece of artwork that is created and shared with other crafters. They must be 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ or 64mm x 89mm in size. They can be in either portrait or landscape orientation. Most often they are in portrait so they can be displayed in swap card or traditional sports trading card folders.
Other than the size, there are no rules in creating your ATCs. You can use any materials on the fronts; any colours and any images. Some more formal swaps may have themes or rules to use a certain company’s products. We are running a theme of SPRING – think bright colours and flowers and butterflies. However, if you would prefer to ignore the theme and do your own thing – that’s FINE too!! All styles welcome!
On the back of your ATC, it is usual to add your name and contact details – we have created a template that you can print and cut other to stick onto the back. Click and download now!
NOTE: These ATCs are not meant to be sold, only swapped and collected for inspiration and to commentate an event!
What is an ATC swap?
An ATC swap is an organised event where ATCs can be swapped with other crafters. These can be done through the post – there are LOTS of ATC swapping groups.
Alternatively, ATCs can be swapped at craft events, like the From Picture to Page papercraft show! They are a great way to start conversations with other crafters, as well as collecting mementos from the show.
Frequently Asked Questions – FAQs
I still don’t get it – what’s the point of an ATC?
Think of them like a crafters business card or like Taylor Swifts bracelet swaps – they are a momento to be swapped and a way to make new friends.
How many ATCs should I make?
In the past, when ATCS swaps were at their peak, we would make up to 100 cards. We are not sure we will need that many for this swap – we would suggest making 20 to 30.
NOTE they don’t need to be all the same – Click here to see helpful tips on creating LOTS of ATCs
